It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Peter Hadden died at his home in Belfast yesterday (May 5th) after a courageous battle against cancer. Peter played an enormous role in the workers' movement in Ireland and internationally, and will be remembered with great fondness and admiration by the thousands of workers he struggled alongside.

The persecution of Wikileaks has taken another dramatic turn with its leading figure, Julian Assange, seeking political asylum in Ecuador in late June. Assange has been in Britain fighting extradition to Sweden. Extradition was expected to begin on 28 June after all legal appeals had been exhausted.

The failure of Mick Wallace to provide certain information to the Oireachtas Committee on Members' Interests of Dáil Eireann and his failure to deal with the controversy regarding his under declaration and non payment of VAT in a fully open manner will only raise questions amongst ordinary working class people.
